THE WHAT
What are custom orthotic insoles?
Custom orthotics are specially-made devices designed to support and comfort your feet. They are designed to improve the way you move and offer long term support.
Orthotics are only manufactured after a complete biomechanics assessment and lower body examination. This enables us to ensure your custom orthotic insoles will accommodate your unique biomechanics and skeletal structure.
Custom orthotics are crafted for you and no one else, offering tailored support for your individual posture and body type.

THE HOW
What happens in a custom insoles fitting?
During your first consultation, we’ll go through your relevant medical history. Our chiropractor will perform an examination and full biomechanics assessment. They’ll analyse your lower body muscles and bone structure, looking out for any weaknesses.
The chiropractor will discuss the findings with you and the next steps. This includes whether they think you would benefit from custom orthotic insoles or any other treatment options.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
It can be useful to bring the shoes you usually wear daily, and any sports trainers or work footwear. If you currently have any orthotics or insoles, please bring those too.
THE WHY
Why Choose Active Chiropractic In Stafford?
During your first consultation, we’ll go through your relevant medical history. Your treatment therapist will perform an examination and discuss the findings with you. They might recommend other diagnosis services, like an ultrasound, blood tests or biomechanical assessment. The chiropractor will then discuss a personalised treatment plan with you.

Common Questions
Who can benefit from custom orthotic insoles?
Orthotics can help people with recurring foot, ankle, knee, hip, or lower back pain. They’re also valuable for athletes, people who spend long hours standing, and those with posture or gait problems. Even if you don’t have pain, orthotics can improve comfort, performance, and long-term joint health.
How are custom insoles different from shop-bought ones?
Unlike off-the-shelf insoles, custom orthotics are designed specifically for your feet. They’re based on a full biomechanics assessment and built to support your unique skeletal structure, ensuring precise alignment and comfort that generic products can’t offer.
What should I wear or bring?
Please bring the shoes you wear most often — everyday footwear, sports trainers, and work shoes. If you currently use orthotics or insoles, bring those too so we can compare and advise.
How long do they last?
With proper care, custom orthotics typically last 2–3 years. However, this depends on your activity levels and footwear. We recommend a review if your symptoms return, your footwear changes significantly, or after a few years of use.
Will they feel strange at first?
Yes, it’s normal to notice a period of adjustment. Some people feel immediate relief, while others need a few weeks to get used to the new alignment. We’ll give you advice on wearing them gradually to ensure comfort.
Can orthotics fix all my pain?
Orthotics are part of a broader treatment plan. They often work best alongside chiropractic care, strengthening exercises, and lifestyle adjustments. We’ll always discuss whether you would benefit from combining orthotics with other therapies.
Are there any risks?
Custom orthotics are safe. The only issue some people experience is mild initial discomfort as their body adjusts to improved alignment. This typically eases quickly and is part of the normal adaptation process.
